Junior Makerspace Toolkit

blocksThe Early Childhood Programs and Services Committee of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has partnered with LEGO to bring you a toolkit for hosting makerspaces for kids in your library.

Many North Dakota libraries already have LEGO clubs, but if you haven’t hopped on the bandwagon yet, this is a great opportunity to get involved!

The toolkit provides ideas for structuring your program and ideas for activities. It suggests the following tips:

  • Designate a space
  • Gather age- appropriate materials
  • Pick a project
  • Spur storytelling
  • Capture and share the creative process

Check out the toolkit to learn more! You can also visit the LEGO Foundation to learn more about the research they have done on creativity.

Do you have a LEGO club at your library? Share your tips and tricks in the comments!
