YALSA has posted the list of the 2016 Teens’ Top Ten Nominees. The 26 books on this list are the favorites from 2015, nominated and chosen by teens. Voting takes place between August 15 and Teen Read Week (October 9-15, 2016), with the 10 winners being announced the week after Teen Read Week.
Now is a great time to have your teens start reading the nominees so they are ready to vote when the time comes. This will also get teens reading during the summer, which is the ultimate goal.
The list of nominees, along with a short synopsis of each, can be found here: http://www.ala.org/yalsa/sites/ala.org.yalsa/files/content/2016%20TTT%20Nominees.pdf
There are a number of ways to promote the Teens’ Top Ten, including making a display of the nominated books and holding book discussions. These and other ideas can be found here: http://www.ala.org/yalsa/teenreading/teenstopten/promotion
A list of past winners and programming ideas, including literary jeopardy and creating a soundtrack/playlist for a novel, can be found here: http://www.ala.org/yalsa/teenstopten.
If a patron would like to check out a book that your library doesn’t own, you can always request a copy through the North Dakota State Library. If we don’t own it, we will try to get a copy from another library for you via Interlibrary Loan.
